Academy - JDL (8-11)

Since its inception, our highly regarded Development Programs have resulted in many players being selected into Northern Tigers representative programs.

Our Junior Development League (JDL) teams play in the age groups referenced as the Skill Acquisition Phase, the stage of a young footballer’s development between the ages of 8 to 11. 

The aim of NSFA JDL competitions is to improve development opportunities for players and coaches within local football clubs, while also underpinning the Northern Tigers JDL and the NSFA Super League and Diamond League competitions.

The BFC Cobra Academy consists of a JDL1 and JDL2 teams for each of the following age groups: U8, U9, U10, U11 JDL players are required to attend 2 training sessions per week, 90 minutes for each session (this is held at Mt Kuring-Gai Oval on Tuesdays and Thursdays). Pre-season training commences in February until the end of the winter season, with several trial matches scheduled in the lead-up to the season. JDL players train during school holidays, and there are additional gala days and 'one-off' events. The JDL teams are coached by both a KANO and parent coach. Parent coaches and manages are a vital part of our club and please don’t hesitate to get in contact if you would like further information regarding these essential volunteer roles.

There are additional coaching costs associated with the JDL program on top of the standard player registration, these are invoiced at between $650 to $750 per player for 2026.

2026 Trials

U8-U11 JDL 2026 Trials Thursday 6th and 20th November Asquith Boys High School (grass field). Players should attend both trial dates.

• U8 and U9: 4.45pm- 5.45pm (arrive 4.30pm)
• U10 and U11: 5.45pm- 6.45pm (arrive 5.30pm)

Please arrive 15mins prior to the allocated trial time for registration and warm up. Shin pads are essential and boots can be worn.

JDL trials are open to all players eligible to play in U8-U11 in 2026.
